Abridge is an enterprise-grade generative AI platform designed to transform clinical conversations into structured medical notes. Founded in 2018 by Dr. Shiv Rao, Florian Metze, and Sandeep Konam, the company is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with additional offices in San Francisco and New York City. Abridge emerged from the Pittsburgh Health Data Alliance, a collaboration involving UPMC, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Pittsburgh.

The platform captures and transcribes patient-clinician conversations in real time, converting them into clinically useful and billable notes. Abridge integrates seamlessly with electronic medical records (EMRs), including direct integration with Epic, to streamline documentation workflows. The company serves over 250 health systems globally, including major providers like Kaiser Permanente and Mayo Clinic, and supports more than 10,000 clinicians. Abridge focuses on reducing administrative burdens and clinician burnout while enhancing data insights for health systems, payers, and life sciences organizations.
