GCI Communication Corp. is a telecommunications company based in Anchorage, Alaska, founded in 1979. It is recognized as Alaska’s first technology startup and has developed into the state's most comprehensive communications network, employing around 2,000 people. Initially focused on providing affordable long-distance phone service, GCI has invested over $3-4 billion to expand its offerings and reach even the most remote areas of Alaska.
